I think after doing peer review once this semester, I had a good experience with it. From my point of view, I tied to give as much feedback as possible. I wanted to look for things that they might have missed while writing their paper the first time. I also wanted to be able to give a different perspective on what they were writing. I was’t hesitant about sharing my draft when I passed mine off, I was excited to see what other people might have thought about it. I think the global editing went better rather than the local edits just because everybody was more involved in the big picture writing and it is easier to help people with those bigger ideas. I liked doing this in class too because it is easier to talk to someone in person along with the comments rather than just seeing the comments alone. I think that a lot of the learning outcomes can be applied with peer review as well. Peer editing allows us as class mates to think critically together about writing, as well as improve on out MLA formatting skills and our grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills. I think maybe next time we peer edit, to make it better, I would like to spend more time talking with my partner in person about the comments that we wrote and how to better improve each others paper. I think the critiques that we used in class were helpful in the sense that it made the reader think critically about how to edit a paper. I think I really engaged while we were reading and peer editing during class, and maybe next time we peer edit I would like to receive more comments about how to improve my own paper so I can make it the best it can be.
