I like to think of the local edits in papers as the icing on the cake. This is just the polishing after all of the content writing is done. A lot of the time, my pod mates helped with this while we were peer editing. A lot of the time they were able to catch things that I might not have seen or just read over, such as misplaced words, comma splices, or run on sentences. The consensus when this was found in someone’s paper, was for them to read their paper out loud and make sure it sounds grammatically correct. This trick helped me out a lot and made sure my papers had a good flow to them. The MLA formatting was also one of the last things I added in. I made sure the header and spacing was correct with my formatting. I also improved on my works cited pages and in-text citations as well. I think working on the citations taught me the importance of giving credit to the author for the hard work that they have done.
